Good Grief Center of North Central Washington

PROGRAMS

We offer a range of support groups and services to meet your unique needs during the difficult period of coping with loss. Unless indicated, the groups meet at the Good Grief Center, at 1610 5th Street in Wenatchee, WA. Please call the Center at 662-6069 for further information about any of these programs or services.

Children's Grief Night

This program provides a safe, caring environment for children and their families who are coping with the death of a family member. Trained volunteers assist.

It meets the second and fourth Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

How do I know when my child is grieving?

Camp Erin for Children

The Good Grief Center of NCW is proud to announce in 2009 a partnership with The Moyer Foundation to provide a Camp Erin bereavement camp for grieving children. Wenatchee will be the 28th Camp Erin. The session will be held September 11th, 12th and 13th, 2009. The camp will be located at the YMCA camp on the north shore of Lake Wenatchee.

The camp will accommodate 20 children the first year. Please call the Good Grief Center at 509-662-6069 for additional information.

Crisis Response Team

A roster of trained volunteers who respond when requested to schools, businesses and individual groups for a variety of grief issues.

Deployed Forces

This group meets the first and third Friday of every month at 6:00-7:30 p.m., beginning September 19, 2008. The group is for the spouses, children and parents of the deployed 41 members of Wenatchee's 161th Infantry National Guard. Modern technology enables families to connect with their soldiers via email, phone cards and video connections. The Deployed Forces group will allow families to connect with each other and other families.

When a solider goes to a war zone, their family is asked to be supportive by staying positive and keeping their morale up to allow the soldier to stay focused on his job -- coming home. Families have a need to voice fears, hopes, problems and solutions to issues they do not want to concern their deployed loved one with. The Deployed Forces group will provide a safe, confidential environment for families to come together to share those feelings.

If you would like to help the Center provide support to the families of deployed forces by volunteering or other means, call Linda Kearny at 662-6069.

Friends & Families of Victims of Violent Crimes

Led by Jim Huffman, this group supports people who are dealing with the aftermath of violent crime.
